Peter Locke

Retired from Dearborn Fire Department after 26 years service with the department in February, 2002. The last 11 years in Dearborn I served as their Coordinator of Emergency Management. I became a PEM in 1992 (part of the Capstone crowd). I served as the MEMA 2S Liaison for four years. I was fortunate to be named the MEMA Coordinator of the Year over 50,000 population in 1999 where I also received the MEMA Response of the Year and the MSP/EMHS PEM of the Year at the same time. During my stint as Dearborn Coordinator, I managed three Presidential Disasters and two Presidential Emergencies. Dearborn was also named the Michigan Project Impact Community for 2000, a federal initiative and grant that recognized a community in the state for their work in preparedness. After I retired from Dearborn I began working for Macomb’s Office of Emergency Management. Several years ago I developed a Community Emergency Preparedness workbook that received an award from the National Council of Counties and has so far been used, not only by the county, but by three other states with more than one million copies printed and distributed.
I have been married to Linda for 34 years and have five grandchildren from my two sons (and of course my daughter-in-laws).
