Region
Six is privileged to host the State of Michigan Pediatric Disaster Management
conference. This conference is 100% funded through Federal, State and Local
grants provided by the Department of Health and Human Services, The Center for
Disease Control, Emergency Medical Services for Children, special funding from
Michigan Department of Community Health, Office of Public Health Preparedness,
Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital, and the Gerber Foundation.
Education is essential to execution of any plan. Emergency Preparedness Plans
will only work if those providers on the front lines of patient care in all
disciplines understand their role in pediatric disaster management. Pediatric
populations require a coordinated effort in both planning, and clinical
response. “Pediatric Disaster Management 2007: Linking the Key Players provides
an environment of collaborative learning”. Clinical providers of all levels and
emergency preparedness planners from all disciplines will gather for a single
event centered on better preparing the State of Michigan for events that may
affect our future, our children.
This
conference is intended for those who play a role in the care and preparedness
planning of children. Physicians specializing in pediatrics, emergency medicine,
pediatric critical care, pediatric surgery and providers within pre-hospital
care, first responder care, and emergency management, including disaster
planning, management, and response should find this event very beneficial. 12.5
Category 1 CME have been approved for Physicians and Nurses. 13 lecture
continuing education credits have been approved for Emergency Medical Services
providers of all levels. National and regional speakers will present on topics
concerning pediatric disaster management planning and response.
