Jim has been an
active member
Michigan
Emergency
Management
Association (MEMA)
member since
2000. He has
served on the
MEMA award
committee since
2001 and is
currently the
committee
chairperson. He
was elected and
served as the
MEMA 3rd Vice
President during
2005 and is the
1st Vice
President for
2006.
Jim retired from
the Kent County
Sheriff
Department after
31 years. During
his tenure at
the department
he served as a
Corrections
Officer,
Paramedic,
Patrol officer,
Sergeant,
Lieutenant and
County Emergency
Management
Coordinator.
Since his
retirement from
Kent County, Jim
has joined the
staff of Flies
and Vanden Brink
Engineering. His
specialty areas
include
planning,
training,
exercise design
& evaluation and
grant
administration.
He continues to
be very active
working with
schools, Local
Emergency
Management &
Homeland
Security
agencies and
regional
preparedness
initiatives. He
continues to
promote
emergency
management,
homeland
security, and
citizen
preparedness
programs
throughout the
state.
Jim is also a
board member of
the Michigan
Crisis Response
Association (MCRA)
and is the
immediate past
team
administrator
for the Mid-West
Michigan
Critical
Incident Stress
Management Team
(CISM).
